Woman Killed, 3 Hurt in Arbuckle Crash on Interstate 5 near Greenbay Road
Arbuckle, California (August 3, 2021) – A 74-year-old woman from Washington was killed and three other people injured following a head-on collision that happened on Sunday night in Arbuckle.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. August 1, on Interstate 5 near Greenbay Road.
A 76-year-old man from Washington was driving a Prius southbound in the northbound lanes when he collided head-on with a Dodge minivan, the CHP said.
The Prius driver was taken to a hospital in Chico with severe injuries while his passenger died in the accident.
The Dodge driver, a 41-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 40-year-old man, were taken to a hospital in Marysville with moderate to major injuries, CHP said.
The collision led to the closure of northbound side for about one and half an hour as the crews worked to clear the scene.
It's not clear whether alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash.
CHP is investigating the accident.
