Police said a driver failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and crashed into two vehicles trying to make a turn

Tempe, AZ– One person was killed while two others were injured in an accident that happened at an intersection in Tempe early Sunday morning.
According to the Tempe Police Department, the crash occurred just after midnight on Rural Road and University Drive.
Police said a driver failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and crashed into two vehicles trying to make a turn.
The impact sent one of the vehicles off the roadway and it crashed into the side of a building.
Three people were transported to a hospital and one of them succumbed to their injuries.
The intersection was shut down for hours as authorities examined and cleared the scene.
The collision remained under investigation.
