Glenn County, CA – 26-year-old Cameron Vessels was arrested for DUI after he reportedly triggered a head-on collision that left a Chico man dead Saturday morning in Glenn County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place around 11:41 a.m. on October 2, 2026, on eastbound Highway 162 near County Road 304.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Vessels, a resident of Stonyford, California, was driving a 1984 Dodge pickup truck eastbound on the highway, and the unidentified Chico man was riding a 2005 BMW motorcycle westbound on the highway.
Authorities said that as the pickup truck approached the motorcycle, Vessels allowed his vehicle to cross over the center line on Highway 162 into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the rider.
The motorcycle collided head-on with the pickup truck, ejecting the rider.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vessels sustained minor injuries, including bruising and lacerations to his face.
CHP officers established that Vessels was driving under the influence at the time of the collision. The driver was arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
