Police reported that a man walked into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of Centre City Parkway.
Escondido, CA – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle last week on Monday in Escondido has been identified.
According to the Escondido Police Department, the incident took place at around 7:45 p.m. September 21, on Centre City Parkway near Ninth Avenue.
Police reported that a man walked into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of Centre City Parkway.
A bystander rendered medical aid to the pedestrian until medics arrived and rushed him to a hospital.
The victim was declared deceased at the hospital. He was identified as Luis Enrique Arias, 47.
The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
According to authorities, the involved driver was not believed to have been impaired at the time of the collision.
The Escondido Police Department is still investigating the cause of the collision.
