Oakdale, CA – A driver died, and another was hurt in a fiery head-on collision that happened Thursday evening in Oakdale, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident was reported around 8:27 p.m. on September 10, 2026, on State Route 120, which runs concurrently with State Route 108 in the area, just east of Lancaster Road.
The accident involved a 2017 Honda Civic and a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
According to authorities, a woman was driving the Honda westbound when she attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with the Ford.
The Honda caught fire after the collision while the driver was still inside. Several parties were attempting to get the woman out of the car before first responders arrived.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries.
Investigators closed the highway in both directions between Lancaster Road and Kennedy Road for several hours.
