Blythe, CA – 1 Killed, 1 Airlifted after Multi-Vehicle Collision on 10 Freeway

At around 4:22 p.m. on September 7, 2026, four vehicles collided on the eastbound 10 Freeway near State Route 78.

Blythe, CA – One person died, and another was airlifted to the hospital after a multi-vehicle accident that happened Monday afternoon in Blythe, the California Highway Patrol reported.

At around 4:22 p.m. on September 7, 2026, four vehicles collided on the eastbound 10 Freeway near State Route 78.

CHP officers, Blythe police, Blythe firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.

Two people were transported by ground ambulances to Blythe Airport, from where they were to be airlifted to the hospital. One of the victims was subsequently airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center by CareFlight 8 in unknown condition.

The second patient was, however, not airlifted after being pronounced dead in the back of an AMR ambulance at the airport.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

Some dogs involved in the crash were picked up by Blythe PD since the Blythe Animal Control Unit was closed at that time.

Two black SUVs were towed away from the scene with major crash damage.

The crash caused heavy traffic backup on eastbound 10 Freeway near Blythe.
