Oxnard, CA – Motorcyclist Critically Hurt in Crash on 200 West Esplanade Drive

Oxnard police and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and found the 22-year-old man and his bike trapped underneath the front of a 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

Oxnard, CA – A 22-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after colliding with a truck Thursday afternoon near the Esplanade Shopping Center in Oxnard.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, the collision was reported around 4:21 p.m. on September 3, 2026, at the 200 block of West Esplanade Drive.

Oxnard police and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and found the 22-year-old man and his bike trapped underneath the front of a 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

The motorcyclist was freed and rushed to Ventura County Medical Center with serious injuries. He was listed in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 61-year-old Juan Rodriguez of Oxnard was driving the pickup truck when he attempted to turn left onto Esplanade Drive from the Esplanade Shopping Center. As the driver crossed the westbound lane, he collided head-on with the motorcyclist, who was heading west on Esplanade Drive.

The rider and the motorcycle got pinned under the front of the truck, which continued eastbound for a short distance before coming to a stop. Rodriguez called 911.

Police officers evaluated Rodriguez at the scene for signs of impairment but did not find any.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
