Coalinga, CA – At least one person died, and another was injured in a two-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon in Coalinga, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck transpired around 3:33 p.m. on August 27, 2026, on eastbound State Route 198 near Warthan Street.
According to authorities, a white 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 truck and a white Ford pickup truck with a trailer were involved in the crash. Both vehicles pulled to the right shoulder after the accident.
One person sustained a broken leg, which was stuck underneath the dashboard. Another person in the other vehicle was also trapped inside. Both parties were awake and conscious.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the parties.
An air ambulance and at least one ground ambulance responded to the scene to transport at least two injured parties to the hospital. One of the patients suffered severe injuries.
The report said at least one person died in the accident, but did not specify if the deceased was among the two who were hospitalized or if they died at the scene.
Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the crash.
