San Jose, CA – 50-year-old Ari Green has been identified as the city worker who died when a parked bucket truck was hit by a box truck Tuesday morning at an intersection in San Jose.
The San Jose resident was repairing a street light under an underpass near Hillsdale Avenue and Guadalupe Parkway when the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on August 25, 2026.
According to the San Jose Police Department, Green was working in the bucket of a parked white 2022 Ford F-550 bucket truck when a white 2018 Isuzu box truck traveling west on Hillsdale Avenue hit the Ford.
Green sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the box truck and an adult male passenger remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The SJPD’s Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the accident.

San Jose, CA – A San Jose Department of Transportation employee died when their crane truck was struck by a box truck Tuesday morning, the city authorities reported.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on August 25, 2026, under an overpass near Hillsdale Avenue and Guadalupe Parkway.
The worker was inside the bucket of a crane truck repairing a streetlight when a box truck struck the crane truck, causing the employee to fall.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
The driver involved stopped and cooperated with investigators.
According to a joint statement by Mayor Matt Mahan, City Manager Jenifer Maguire, and Department of Transportation Director John Ristow, “the Department of Transportation employee was repairing a streetlight to keep San Jose drivers and pedestrians safe” when the accident happened.
The authorities asked members of the public to be attentive on the roads and slow down and make space for maintenance workers and emergency crews stopped in the roadway.
