Investigations revealed that a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 when it moved across the median and collided head-on with a second tractor-trailer heading east.
Winslow, AZ – Two people were killed in a collision involving big rigs on Interstate 40 near Winslow on Friday afternoon.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the wreck transpired on I-40 near Meteor City Road on Friday, August 7.
Investigations revealed that a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 when it moved across the median and collided head-on with a second tractor-trailer heading east.
At least one of the big rigs caught on fire after the crash.
According to AZDPS, the two involved motorists were confirmed deceased at the scene. At this time, the identities of the deceased drivers are yet to be released.
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 were shut down for an unspecified duration while authorities worked to clear the scene.
