Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office Identifies E-Bike Rider Killed on July 2 in Oxnard

Oxnard, CA – 30-year-old William Rodriguez died after he was struck by a DUI suspect while riding an e-bike earlier this month at an intersection in Oxnard, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

Rodriguez was involved in the collision around 8:10 p.m. on July 2, 2026, on Patterson Road at Oarfish Lane.

According to Oxnard PD, Rodriguez was riding an e-bike eastbound on Oarfish Lane when he failed to stop for the stop sign at Patterson Road and proceeded eastbound into the intersection.

Rodriguez was then struck by a pickup truck heading southbound on Patterson Road.

The cyclist sustained major injuries. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center by EMS, where he was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Jesus Preciado, stopped and cooperated with investigators. He was arrested at the scene after displaying signs of impairment.

On July 20, 2026, at around 8 p.m., the Medical Examiner’s Office notified Oxnard PD that Rodriguez had been pronounced dead.

Oxnard, CA – A man was severely injured in an accident while riding an e-bike at an intersection in Oxnard on Thursday night, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on July 2, authorities responded to reports of a collision at Patterson Road and Oarfish Lane.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 30-year-old Oxnard man was riding an e-bike when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and was hit by a 2020 Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling south on Patterson Road.

The bike rider was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, identified as Jesus Preciado, 36, of Oxnard, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

According to Oxnard police, driving under the influence of alcohol was suspected in the accident. Preciado was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
