Ventura County, CA – Three people, including a DUI suspect, were hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Thursday night in Ventura County.
According to the California Highway Patrol-Ventura Area Office, the collision occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Rice Avenue, north of Channel Islands Boulevard.
CHP officers established that a 25-year-old Oxnard man was driving a black Jeep Cherokee southbound in the No. 1 lane, and a 37-year-old woman was driving her black Chevrolet Tahoe in the No. 2 lane.
The Jeep driver drifted right into the path of the Chevrolet and crashed into its rear.
The 25-year-old man sustained major injuries in the crash. He was transported to St. Johns Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Authorities also noted that the driver was under the influence of alcohol after conducting a DUI investigation at the scene. The motorist was arrested.
The Chevrolet driver and her passenger, a 35-year-old man, were taken to Ventura County Medical Center with minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating the crash.
