Fairfield, CA – A 60-year-old man died in a chain-reaction collision that happened early Friday morning on the 80 Freeway in Fairfield, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident took place around 2:35 a.m. July 10, 2026, on the westbound 80 Freeway just east of Red Top Road near Highway 12.
According to CHP logs, a 60-year-old man was speeding in a gray Lexus sedan westbound on the freeway when at some point, he was involved in a minor collision with a black Lexus sedan.
The impact caused the gray Lexus to hit the center median wall before it overturned in the No. 1 lane.
Shortly after the incident, the gray Lexus was struck by a gray Dodge SUV.
The 60-year-old man died in the accident.
There were no other injuries reported.
Several lanes were blocked as officers investigated.
