Preliminary reports indicate that a bicyclist was hit by a bus on the southbound side of Middlefield Road near the intersection. Authorities were still working to ascertain the exact circumstances of the incident.
Palo Alto police and emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after and located the rider with severe injuries. The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The bus driver was at the scene when authorities arrived. There were no reports of arrests or citations in connection with the accident.
The cause of the collision is being investigated by the Palo Alto Police Department and additional details are expected to be released.
