Concord, CA – One person was killed in a motorcycle accident that happened Friday morning on State Route 242 in Concord, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck was reported around 10 a.m. on June 19, 2026, on southbound SR-242 at the Grant Street off-ramp.

According to CHP, a motorcycle and a maroon Toyota RAV4 were involved in the accident.

Contra Costa County firefighters responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the collision and found the rider and the motorcycle on the right shoulder.

The report said one person died in the accident.

A SigAlert was issued, closing the Nos. 2 and 4 lanes of southbound SR-242 north of Grant Street, as well as the Grant Street off-ramp.

The motorcycle was towed away with major crash damage.

Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
