According to the California Highway Patrol logs, the accident was reported around 2 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-215 near Blaine Street.
The driver of a blue and green Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck called 911, reporting that they had hit something while driving in the HOV lane.
Riverside firefighters responded and found a pedestrian with severe injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A Riverside County coroner representative responded to the scene following the fatality.
All southbound lanes of I-215 at Blaine Street were closed for about two hours during the investigation.
