San Jose, CA – A person died after being involved in an auto-pedestrian collision on Wednesday night in San Jose, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The accident was reported at around 8 p.m. April 8, in the area of S. White Road and Mt. McKinley Drive.

According to San Jose police, a person walking at the intersection was hit by a vehicle under unclear circumstances. The accident occurred near Mt. Pleasant High School.

Emergecy personnel responded to the scene and the pedestrian was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At around 11:20 p.m., police reported that the pedestrian had succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

A light-colored Toyota minivan was stopped at the scene but it’s unclear whether it was involved in the accident. No additional details on the involved driver were provided.

Roads were shut down for hours as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

The San Jose Police Department is handling an ongoing investigation into the deadly crash.
