Mendocino County, CA – A crash involving multiple vehicles on Highway 1 in Mendocino County left one person injured on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 2:55 p.m. March 9, authorities were called to the scene of a traffic collision at the Caspar Creek bridge, just north of County Road 409.
According to the authorities, a tow truck, a sedan, and a delivery truck were involved in the collision on the southbound side of Highway 1. The three vehicles collided for unspecified reasons and there was fuel spilled onto the southbound lane.
CHP officers, CAL FIRE, and Mendocino Fire Department crews responded to the scene shortly after and helped the involved parties.
At least one person was flown to an out-out-of-area hospital for treatment. There was no update on the condition of the injured patient and their identity was not immediately released.
Both directions of Highway 1 were shut down and motorists were informed to expect delays in the Caspar area.
The California Highway Patrol is still working to ascertain the cause of the accident and further details are expected to be released.
