The WSP reported that a man was riding a bicycle on SR 7 when he was hit by a pickup truck. Details on how the crash occurred, including the directions the truck and bicyclist were headed at the time, were not immediately released.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and attended to the injured rider. The man was then transported to a local hospital and was listed in serious condition.
The driver of the truck was not hurt and stayed at the scene of the crash. The names of the truck driver and the bicyclist were not disclosed.
Both directions of SR 7 were temporarily shut down at 52nd Avenue E while authorities gathered more information as they investigated the incident. The northbound lanes were soon after reopened while the southbound traffic was diverted at Weiler Road.
