Los Angeles, CA – A 75-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a street in the Florence area of Los Angeles has been identified as Estanislo Garcia, according to the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner.
The fatal collision was reported at approximately 5:49 p.m. Sunday, January 4, at the intersection of San Pedro Street and 83rd Street, Los Angeles Police Department officials said.
Investigators determined that a vehicle traveling northbound on San Pedro Street struck Garcia as he was walking westbound within a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Garcia dead due to his injuries.
The driver involved remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with investigators. No arrests were reported, and authorities did not immediately indicate whether impairment was a factor.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian crash remain under investigation.
