The Fremont Police Department is conducting an investigation into the collision.

Fremont ranks among the largest cities in Alameda County in both land area and population, and its continued growth has contributed to a noticeable rise in traffic accidents in recent years. As the population expands, local roadways have experienced heavier congestion, increasing the likelihood of collisions. Data from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) indicates that Fremont reported 518 traffic-related injuries and fatalities in 2023, a slight decline from the 677 victims recorded the year before. Despite this minor decrease, pedestrian-related accidents remain a serious concern on Fremont roads. OTS records show that the percentage of pedestrians injured or killed against total traffic-related injuries in 2023 increased by more than 1.5% compared to 2022. The intersections of Normal St/Park Blvd/Alcohon Blvd tri-intersection and 32nd & Fremont are consistently identified as high-risk corridors due to the large number of pedestrian-involved crashes reported annually. This is often driven by dense traffic volumes in these areas. Improving driver awareness, attentiveness, and compliance with traffic laws could significantly enhance safety on Fremont’s busiest roadways.
