Citrus Heights, CA. – A 28-year-old motorcyclist died Monday night after crashing into a car during a police chase in Citrus Heights.

According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, the chase began around 8:20 p.m. when officers tried to stop the rider near Antelope Road and Wonder Street for unspecified vehicle code violations.

Police said the motorcyclist did not stop but fled at high speeds, driving recklessly, ignoring traffic signals, and turning off headlights while evading the officers.

The pursuit ended at Antelope Road and Mariposa Avenue, where the motorcycle collided with a car, ejecting the rider.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car driver was uninjured.

A Sacramento Police Department helicopter assisted in tracing the motorcyclist during the chase.

The crash remains under investigation by CHPD.
