San Jose, CA. – The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died Monday morning in a hit-and-run scooter accident as 52-year-old Monica Ibarra.
The San Francisco resident was, around 8 a.m. on August 8, riding a scooter near Santa Clara and Cahill streets when she was hit by a 2021 black Ram pickup truck.
San Jose police responded to the scene and determined that Ibarra was heading north in the crosswalk of the intersection when the accident occurred.
The driver of the pickup truck was heading east at the time.
Ibarra was rushed to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The man driving the vehicle fled the scene, but officers later located the pickup truck and determined that it had been stolen.
The driver remained at large and had not been identified.

San Jose, CA.- A scooter rider was killed in a crash involving a hit-and-run driver in downtown San Jose on Sunday morning, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The accident was reported shortly after 8 a.m. September 7, on Santa Clara and Cahill streets.
Police reported that a woman was riding on a scooter when a driver struck her near the intersection and fled the scene.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The woman’s name was not immediately released.
Both sides of Santa Clara Street were shut down following the incident.
Police are investigating the crash.
