Bakersfield, CA. – The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified 42-year-old Juan Sigfredo Hernandez Melara as the pedestrian who died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday night in Bakersfield.
The Bakersfield man was involved in the crash around 9:29 p.m. on August 2 in the 900 block of South Union Avenue near Taft Highway.
Hernandez Melara allegedly walked into the path of a Honda Civic, and the driver was unable to avoid a collision.
The pedestrian was taken to Kern Medical, where he died a few hours later.

Bakersfield, CA.- A man who was struck by a vehicle in south Bakersfield on Saturday morning later died at the hospital, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The crash happened in the 900 block of Union Avenue at about 9 a.m. August 2.
According to the police, the man was walking across Union Avenue outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a northbound vehicle.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
