Elk Grove, CA.- A motorcyclist was killed in a collision that took place in Elk Grove on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

The incident took place on Sheldon Road near Lewis Stein Road at about 3:50 p.m. April 23.

According to the police, a motorcyclist was traveling east on Sheldon Road when they collided with an SUV that was making a left turn.

Emergency crews provided medical aid to the rider, who was then rushed to a hospital for further treatment.

The rider, a 23-year-old, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The two occupants of the SUV were not injured.

The eastbound side of Sheldon Road was shut down as authorities investigated the incident.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
