Santa Maria, CA. – 78-year-old Philip Wesley Leonard was killed in a motorcycle accident that happened last week in Santa Maria, authorities reported.

The collision occurred around 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the northbound Highway 101 on-ramp near East Main Street and Nicholson Avenue.

According to investigators, Leonard was riding a motorcycle west on Main Street when he attempted a right turn onto the highway on-ramp and collided with the passenger side of a bus.

Authorities said the bus had a green light at the time of the crash.

Leonard, a resident of Santa Maria, was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment but later died from his injuries at the facility.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Impairment was not suspected to be a contributing factor.
