Big Sur, CA. – 66-year-old John C. McLaughlin, of Los Angeles, has been identified as the bicyclist who died after being struck by a car on Saturday morning in Big Sur.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Pacific Coast Highway near Sycamore Canyon Road at around 11:15 a.m.

McLaughlin had been riding a bicycle on the northbound shoulder when he was hit by a northbound Mazda 3 sedan.

McLaughlin died at the accident scene.

The 37-year-old Malibu woman driving the Mazda and her passenger, a 42-year-old Malibu man, were unhurt.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
