Karrar Mahdi Killed in Bicycle Accident at Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street

Moreno Valley, California (July 12, 2023) – A 15-year-old boy has died following a bicycle accident that happened at an intersection in Moreno Valley last month.

At around 7:52 p.m. on June 15, the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station received reports of a bicycle accident at the intersection of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street.

The Moreno Valley Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team says 15-year-old Karrar Mahdi was riding a bicycle eastbound on Iris Avenue and was making a left turn onto northbound Lasselle and was hit by a car.

Mahdi was transported to Riverside University Health System Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, July 11.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the bicycle accident is underway.
