2 Hospitalized after Santa Rosa Multi-Car Crash on Highway 12

Santa Rosa, California (June 3, 2022) – Two people were hospitalized after being involved in a multi-vehicle collision Thursday night in Santa Rosa, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The pileup was reported at about 11:08 p.m. on westbound Highway 12, just east of the Stony Point Road off-ramp.

CHP said at least four vehicles were involved in the accident. The crash was possibly caused by a car that was weaving in and out of traffic lanes prior to the incident, the report said.

One of the vehicles overturned onto its roof.

The crash resulted in injuries to possibly three people with one extrication. Two of the patients were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

All westbound lanes of the highway remained blocked following the accident. Motorists were being diverted off the highway at Dutton Avenue.

At least three vehicles were towed away from the scene.

CHP is investigating the incident.

Remember to Buckle Up

No matter the type of car you are driving, buckling up remains the safest choice for drivers and passengers.
As you drive around during the Memorial Day holiday, you will come across more law enforcement officers on the freeways as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign launched last week by the NHTSA. The campaign began yesterday, May 23, and will run through to June 5. The campaign aims at reminding drivers and passengers of the importance of wearing a seat belt and the legal consequences of not buckling up.
According to statistics by NHTSA, over 15,000 lives were saved by seat belts in crashes that happened in 2017. In 2020, 10,893 unbuckled people in passenger vehicles died in crashes in the US. 60% of the young adults (ages 18 to 34) killed in the crashes were completely unrestrained.
Remember, seat belt safety starts with you! Your children are watching.
