The incident began shortly after 10 p.m., when officers responded to reports of a reckless driver and located a white Jeep driving erratically near Blosser Road and Cook Street, police said.

Santa Maria, CA. — A woman was killed Monday night in Santa Maria after crashing during a brief pursuit that officers had already called off, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
The incident began shortly after 10 p.m., when officers responded to reports of a reckless driver and located a white Jeep driving erratically near Blosser Road and Cook Street, police said.
The officers begun a chase, but within less than a minute, ended it near Stowell Road and Western Avenue due to safety concerns.
Despite the termination, the Jeep continued east on Stowell Road at a high rate of speed, running multiple red lights.
Minutes later, the driver collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Stowell Road and Bradley Road.
The woman behind the wheel of the Jeep was ejected during the impact and died at the scene, police said.
The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
Her identity has not been released pending notification of her family.
The Santa Maria PD and the California Highway Patrol are jointly investigating the crash.
