Pacific Beach, California (January 23, 2023) – The woman who was killed in a suspected DUI crash on Sunday morning in Pacific Beach has been identified as Vanessa Abigail Urbina Aragonez, 22, of Arizona, according to the police.

The wreck happened in the 3400 block of Riviera Drive near Edge Cliff Drive at about 1:30 p.m. January 22.

San Diego police said Nestor Hernandez, 22, was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Riviera Drive when, for unknown reasons, he swerved into the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians who were standing next to a parked Chevrolet Tahoe.

One of the pedestrians, identified as Aragonez, was killed in the crash.

The other pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, was pinned under the Tacoma and suffered major injuries. 

Hernandez was unhurt. However, he was arrested on suspicion of murder and DUI following the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
