Tehama County, CA. — A woman was airlifted with major injuries and another suffered moderate injuries Wednesday afternoon after a semi-truck rear-ended a minivan north of Los Molinos, officials reported.
The crash occurred around 1:20 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 near 3rd Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said a minivan slowed to make a left turn onto 3rd Avenue when a logging semi-truck traveling behind it failed to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the vehicle.
The impact caused major damage to the rear of the minivan, while the semi-truck sustained minor damage.
Two women were inside the minivan at the time of the crash.
The passenger was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries, and the driver was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, CHP said.
The semi-truck driver was not hurt.
Both directions of Highway 99 were temporarily closed as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene. The highway has since reopened to traffic.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
