Hollister, CA. – Two people were hospitalized after a head-on collision that happened Saturday evening in Hollister, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The DUI-suspected collision occurred around 8:18 p.m. on southbound State Route 25, just south of Best Road.
According to CHP, two vehicles collided head-on under unclear circumstances. One of the cars reportedly overturned in the crash.
A male occupant of one of the vehicles got trapped inside, and another male occupant was able to get out of the car with a broken leg.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and airlifted one patient to Regional Medical Center in San Jose with serious injuries. The other patient was transported by ground ambulance to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose with major injuries.
The report said one of the drivers was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The roadway remained blocked for an unknown period following the crash.
CHP officers are investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
