Los Angeles, CA. – A teenage boy was killed, and another was arrested after a speeding car crashed late Saturday night in San Pedro, authorities reported.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on northbound Harbor Boulevard near 22nd Street.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a Ford Mustang was traveling at a high rate of speed when the teenage driver lost control and struck a power pole.
A passenger in the vehicle, also a teenager, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver sustained minor wounds and was taken into custody on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
Investigators said excessive speed appeared to be a factor in the San Pedro car crash.
LAPD's South Traffic Division is investigating the accident.
