Four Workers Hospitalized after Gas Leak at Marathon Petroleum Refinery in Wilmington
Four Injured in Wilmington Gas Leak on East Pacific Coast Highway

Wilmington, California (May 8, 2023) – Four workers were hospitalized after being exposed to gas at Marathon Petroleum refinery in Wilmington on Thursday morning, according to the authorities.
The incident was reported at the refinery located on East Pacific Coast Highway at around 6:39 a.m. May 4.
The workers were reportedly exposed to hydrogen sulfide and butane.
Firefighters responded to the scene and rescued the workers.
One of them was hospitalized in serious condition while three others were listed in moderate condition.
The firefighters worked to mitigate the risk from the gas to people in the area.
The incident is under investigation.
