Woman Dies in Clairemont Accident on State Route 52
Clairemont, California ( May 26, 2023) – A woman was killed in a traffic collision in Clairemont on Friday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly incident happened on State Route 52 just before 1 p.m.
CHP said a Chevrolet stake-bed truck was exiting from southbound Interstate 805 onto eastbound SR 52 when it lost control and toppled over.
The truck spilled its load and some of it fell down the connector bridge.
An eastbound Mercedes-Benz SUV traveling below was hit by the debris and a female passenger in the vehicle was killed.
Both drivers were not injured in the incident.
CHP said DUI is not suspected to have played a role in the collision.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
