Wayne Wakefield Dies in 2-Vehicle Collision at Intersection in Tucson
Wayne Wakefield Killed in Crash at Orange Grove Road and La Cholla Boulevard in Tucson

Tucson, Arizona (May 23, 2023) – 71-year-old Wayne Wakefield was killed early Tuesday morning after a collision at an intersection in Tucson.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies received reports of a two-vehicle crash at West Orange Grove Road and North La Cholla Boulevard at around 1:24 a.m.
Wakefield was driving a Toyota when it collided with a Jeep driven by 29-year-old Brian Clarke at the intersection. The events surrounding the incident were not immediately established.
Wakefield was transported to Banner Hospital with injuries believed to be minor. His condition worsened at the hospital, and he was declared dead at 3:47 a.m.
Clarke was impaired at the time of the crash, the police said.
Clarke was booked into the Pima County Jail to be charged with criminal damage, driving under the influence, and manslaughter.
No other information regarding the crash was provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
