Tesla Driver Dies after Crashing into Firetruck on I-680 in Walnut Creek
1 Killed, 5 Injured in Walnut Creek Car Crash on 680 Freeway near Treat Boulevard
Contra Costa, California (February 18, 2023) – One person died and five others were injured after a Tesla slammed into a firetruck on the 680 Freeway in Walnut Creek on Saturday morning.
The fatal collision was reported at around 3:53 a.m. on the northbound 680 Freeway near Treat Boulevard, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The firetruck was blocking lanes at the scene of an earlier accident when a Tesla crashed into it.
The Tesla driver was killed in the accident.

A passenger in the Tesla had to be extricated before being transported to the hospital for treatment.
Four firefighters were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
