Richard Dye Sr. Killed in Valley Center Pedestrian Accident on Lilac Road

Valley Center, California (May 22, 2023) – A pedestrian who died after being struck by a car on Wednesday night in Valley Center has been identified.

At around 8:35 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of a pedestrian accident on Lilac Road near Hideaway Lake Road.

32-year-old Richard Vaughn Dye Sr. was walking south across Lilac Road when he was struck by a Nissan SUV operated by a 19-year-old driver.

The impact of the collision ejected the man onto the roadway where he was struck by a Dodge minivan driven by a 63-year-old driver.

Richard died at the accident scene, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The involved drivers were not injured in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

Man Killed in Valley Center Pedestrian Accident on Lilac Road near Hideaway Lake Road

San Diego, California (May 18, 2023) – A pedestrian died after being struck by vehicles in the Valley Center area of San Diego on Tuesday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 8:37 p.m. on Lilac Road near Hideaway Lake Road.

The man was crossing the road and was hit by a westbound Nissan Kicks driven by a 19-year-old woman and a Dodge Caravan driven by a 63-year-old man.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

No other injuries were reported.

CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
