Victims Killed in Highway 101 Six-Vehicle Crash Identified
Tyler Rasay and Paul Denning ID’d as Victims in Sunnyvale Chain Reaction

Sunnyvale, California (May 23, 2023) – Two of the three people who died in a multi-vehicle accident early Monday morning in Sunnyvale have been identified, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Tyler Rasay, 28, and Paul Denning, 24, died in a chain reaction that occurred around 12:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, on Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Boulevard.
Authorities said nearly six vehicles were involved in the collision. A red Ford pickup truck collided with the center divider and caused other vehicles to crash.
Reportedly, two of the three victims were knocked over the center median into the southbound lanes and were run over by oncoming traffic.
Three other drivers, aged 18, 28, and 38 years, were seriously injured in the crash and were taken to Stanford Medical Center.
All north and southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down as crews worked to clear the scene.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
