Cyclist Critically Hurt in Santa Rosa Crash on West Steele Lane
Bicyclist Injured in Santa Rosa Collision on West Steele Lane
Santa Rosa, California (May 19, 2023) – A bicyclist was critically injured in a collision with a vehicle in Santa Rosa on Thursday evening, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
The collision took place on West Steele Lane near McBride Lane just before 5:07 p.m. May 18.
Police said a woman was riding a bike west along West Steele Lane when she swerved into the traffic lanes and was hit by a westbound Honda.
The woman was thrown from her bike by the impact of the crash.
She was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene after the accident.
Police searched the driver’s vehicle and found drug paraphernalia, including methamphetamine.
The driver, identified as Michael Steven Gutierrez, 65, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for being in possession of narcotics and being in possession of narcotics for sale.
The incident remained under investigation.
