San Diego, California (May 15, 2023) – A boy was rushed to a hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the La Playa neighborhood of San Diego on Saturday night, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The incident took place shortly after 7 p.m. May 13, on Catalina Boulevard.
The boy was playing a toy sword fight with a friend when he stepped into the roadway and was hit by a 2018 Ford Fusion heading south on Catalina Boulevard.
The boy was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries, including head hematoma, a fractured pelvis, and abrasions.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Impaired driving was not believed to have played a role in the incident, which remained under investigation.
