Russell Young Jr Seriously Hurt in Crash on 118 Freeway in Ventura
Russell Young Jr Injured in Ventura Collision on 118 Freeway
Ventura, California (May 11, 2023) – Russell James Young Jr., of Santa Barbara, sustained major injuries in a traffic collision on Tuesday evening in Ventura, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place at about 5:30 p.m. May 9, on 118 Freeway near Mesa School Road.
CHP said Young was driving a 2007 Lexus LS westbound on the freeway when it collided head-on with an oncoming semi-truck driven by Aldo Jose Desantiago, of Tarzana.
Young Jr was trapped in his vehicle and was extricated by emergency crews.
He was then airlifted to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
Desantiago was pulled out of his vehicle by Good Samaritans. He was taken to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Authorities said drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be factors in the incident.
The CHP is investigating the collision.
