One Killed in Sonora Crash on Highway 108

Sonora, California (May 16, 2023) – One person was killed in a suspected DUI collision in Sonora on Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place on Highway 108 near Draper Mine Road on Saturday, May 13.

The CHP said a 39-year-old from Angels Camp was driving a 2019 Kia Optima west on Highway 108 when they slowed down to turn into a private driveway and was rear-ended by a westbound 2020 Ram 2500.

The impact pushed the Kia into the path of an eastbound Ford F-350 driven by a 30-year-old Sonora man.

The driver of the Kia was flown to Doctors’ Medical Center in Modesto, where they were pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Ram, Tammi Truschke, 49, was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injuries.

The CHP is investigating the wreck.
