1 Killed in Sacramento Crash at 47th Avenue and Steiner Drive

Sacramento, California (May 26, 2022) – One person died following a multi-vehicle collision in south Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. on May 25, on 47th Avenue and Steiner Drive.
CHP said a 2016 Maserati coupe was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on 47th Avenue when the driver lost control and made a left turn, colliding with the concrete median.
The coupe then became airborne and it collided with four vehicles stopped for the light at Steiner Drive.
CHP said the coupe came to a rest on its roof after the collision.
The driver of the coupe was rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
Four people in the other vehicles sustained minor injuries. Three of the patients were taken to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Remember to Buckle Up
No matter the type of car you are driving, buckling up remains the safest choice for drivers and passengers.
As you drive around during the Memorial Day holiday, you will come across more law enforcement officers on the freeways as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign launched last week by the NHTSA. The campaign began yesterday, May 23, and will run through to June 5. The campaign aims at reminding drivers and passengers of the importance of wearing a seat belt and the legal consequences of not buckling up.
According to statistics by NHTSA, over 15,000 lives were saved by seat belts in crashes that happened in 2017. In 2020, 10,893 unbuckled people in passenger vehicles died in crashes in the US. 60% of the young adults (ages 18 to 34) killed in the crashes were completely unrestrained.
Remember, seat belt safety starts with you! Your children are watching.
