Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident near Oswell and Auburn Streets Kills Maria Martinez

Bakersfield, California (January 17, 2021) – Authorities have identified the Arvin pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday morning in Bakersfield as 56-year-old Maria Carmen Hernandez Martinez.
The deadly pedestrian collision was reported at approximately 11:18 a.m., January 16, near Oswell and Auburn streets.
Martinez and another person were waiting in line to use the ATM, at the parking lot of the Bank of America, when an unspecified vehicle that was trying to park struck them.
The Bakersfield police affirmed the involved motorist stopped and cooperated with the law.

Sadly, Martinez died at Kern Medical while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the second pedestrian survived with minor to moderate injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Bakersfield Police Department.
