Man, Child Injured in Highway 12 Crash in Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa, California (May 15, 2023) – A man and a child were hospitalized after their vehicle was broadsided Saturday evening in Santa Rosa, authorities said.

According to the Santa Rosa Fire Department, the incident occurred at around 7:40 p.m. on Highway 12 at Los Alamos Road.

Investigators said a man was driving an Acura Integra sedan east on Highway 12 with a child passenger when he pulled into the northbound turn lane at Los Alamos Road.

As the man made a left turn into the intersection and entered the westbound lanes, a white GMC Sierra pickup truck crashed into the sedan’s driver’s side.

Santa Rosa police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the child trapped inside the sedan.

It took the firefighters about ten minutes to free the kid from the passenger’s side of the car.

The child suffered minor injuries, while the man sustained critical injuries to his head.

Both patients were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the man’s severe injuries, he is expected to survive.

The pickup truck had three occupants at the time of the crash. All were evaluated for injuries and released.

Police said the pickup’s driver was not impaired and cooperated with investigators.

The crash is under investigation by Santa Rosa police.
