Jose Gomez ID’d as Teen Killed in Fresno Crash on Highway 180 near Blythe Avenue
Fresno, California (January 13, 2021) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who died in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Fresno as Jose Castellanos Gomez, 19, of Coalinga.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened on Highway 180 near Blythe Avenue on Monday, January 11.
The CHP said a black Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound on Highway 180 when, for unknown reasons, it drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming big rig.

Gomez, who was the driver of the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
Drugs or alcohol were not considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
