Jennifer Cardenas Killed in Corona Collision on 91 Freeway
Corona, California (March 6, 2023) – Jennifer Cardenas, 22, of Riverside, was killed in a wrong-way collision in Corona on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck took place on the 91 Freeway just before 4 a.m. March 5.
Authorities said a 2019 Honda Accord was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the freeway at a high rate of speed when it drifted into the HOV lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Corolla driven by Cardenas.
Cardenas and the other driver, a 24-year-old Riverside- area woman, were killed in the crash.
A passenger in the Honda, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to a trauma center with minor injuries.
Eastbound 91 Freeway was shut down in the area for nearly three hours.
The incident is under investigation.
