James Hendrickson Dies in Castroville Collision on Highway 1
Castroville, California (May 25, 2023) – James Hendrickson, 76, of Dandridge, Tennessee, was killed in a crash on Tuesday afternoon in Castroville, according to the CHP.
The wreck occurred on Highway 1 near Highway 183 at about 12:40 p.m. May 23.
According to the CHP, a GMC Sierra was heading north on the highway when it went across the double yellow lines and crashed with a southbound Mazda driven by Dorothy Cousins, 79, of Soquel.
Cousins and one of her passengers, identified as Hendrickson, were both killed in the incident.
David Randall Hart, 69, of Castroville, who was driving the GMC, suffered major injuries.
Another passenger in the Mazda, identified as a 73-year-old Tennessee woman, was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
